In addition, the benefit is intended to:
- Educate, train and support the person's parents, caregivers and family.
- Promote people's independence and participation in family, school and community life.
- Improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for people and their families.
What is ASD
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication, and restricted or repetitive behaviors. It’s a spectrum disorder, meaning symptoms and severity can vary widely among individuals. Some common signs parents might notice include: Social Skills: Difficulty in understanding social cues, making eye contact, or engaging in reciprocal conversations.
Communication: Delayed language development, repetitive use of language, or difficulty in understanding non-verbal communication.
Behavioral Patterns: Repetitive behaviors such as rocking, spinning objects, or insistence on routines. Some children may also show intense interests in specific topics.
Sensory Sensitivities: Over- or under-sensitivity to sensory stimuli like sound, touch, taste, or smell.
Motor Skills: Challenges with coordination or motor skills.
